Depuis 15 ans, Jean-Pierre Fournier fait la promotion
des Artistes Bronziers Contemporains du Burkina Faso.
Cette forme d'expression d'abord marginale s'est vite apparentée
à un courant artistique reconnu comme représentant
la symbolique contemporaine d'une Afrique en mouvement. Ces artistes
ont su joindre à la tradition africaine un modernisme, tant
dans la conception que dans la rigueur et la qualité de la
technique.
Rigueur, certes, mais accompagnée d'une grande liberté
d'inspiration et d'interprétation rendue possible par la
confrontation de l'Afrique avec les autres continents ; ouverture
sur le développement de la sculpture, introduction de formes
nouvelles et abandon du détail et de la ciselure en faveur
d'une vue d'ensemble plus favorable à l'oeil et à
l'interprétation du mouvement.
En un mot, par la prédominance de "l'art pour l'art".
For 15 years, Jean-Pierre Fournier has promoted
Contemporary Bronzesmiths from Burkina Faso.
This previously marginal form of expression has rapidly allied itself
with an artistic current recognised as representing the contemporary
symbol of an Africa in movement. These artists have combined african
tradition with a modernism, both in concept and in the rigour and
quality of technique.
Rigour, certainly, but accompanied by a great freedom of inspiration
and interpretation made possible by the confrontation of Africa
with other continents ; opportunity for the development of sculpture,
introduction of new forms and abandon of detail and tooling in favour
of an overall view which is more pleasing to the eye and to the
interpretation of movement.
In a word, by the predominance of "art for art's sake".
